Training Courses
The Offshore Energy Center is sponsoring
a unique course aboard the Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig & Museum for those associated with
the petroleum industry. Participants are offered the unique opportunity to
learn from experts with years of drilling industry experience and to
examine first hand most of the drilling equipment discussed during the
courses. Every type of equipment utilized to explore, develop, and produce
oil and gas from the offshore environment is displayed on the rig.
Courses:
Introduction to Drilling & Production
Operations
This course is a 7-hour
course designed for non-operating industry personnel. Class attendees will
learn where oil & gas is located in the earth, and how it is recovered by
drilling and producing wells, both on and off shore. Each seminar attendee
should leave with knowledge of where and how their job skills and work
efforts relate to the overall success of this vast, worldwide energy
industry.
Topics:
Geology: A brief discussion of how petroleum is formed and
migrates to traps.
Types of Wells: Discovery, delineation and producing
How to Drill Wells: Drilling a hole, setting casing, cementing,
logging
SubSea Production: Model study of flow lines & production
template
Visit the rig drilling floor, pipe
deck, etc.

classes to fit your company's needs for either a technical or an
introduction class. We have conducted classes for insurance brokers,
support staff, lawyers, accountants, and members of the media. |
