Bring your sleeping
bag and come aboard the Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum
and discover the world of petroleum. The Overnight Camp allows
participants to learn about the people who spend their lives searching
for “black gold” and how their discoveries impact our lives today.
Campers will learn about the technology behind the quest for
petroleum, various methods of production, and understand the process
to convert this valuable resource into products that help society
live a healthier, more comfortable life.
We will fuel young
minds with engaging activities that teach about the energy that
fuels our lives. Spend the evening aboard a real offshore drilling
rig and awaken to a deeper, more appreciative understanding of how
and why men and women around the world are in pursuit of this major
energy source.
Overnight Camps are available on the fourth Friday or fourth
Saturday of every month on a first come, first served basis. We
require a minimum of 17 total participants, with an appropriate
ratio of campers to adults. Our maximum occupancy for an overnight
camp is 25 total participants, with an appropriate ratio of campers
to adults. Check-in times for overnight camps are between 6:30 and
6:55 PM. Activities will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. Campers are
asked to eat dinner before arriving. A late-night snack and
continental breakfast are included in the program.
